Food Donation in Refugee Camps in Uganda

Providing essential food packages to refugee families in Uganda’s Isingiro and Kikuube districts.

01

The situation in Uganda

Uganda currently hosts more than 2 million refugees and asylum-seekers, making it the largest refugee-hosting country in Africa. More than one million are children, while severe funding shortages have reduced access to essential humanitarian support, leaving many refugee families without sufficient food assistance.

To help address this challenge, the Nile Humanitarian Development Agency, in partnership with the Australian Relief Organisation (ARO), has distributed more than 1,000 food packages to refugee communities in Isingiro and Kikuube districts, two of Uganda’s major refugee-hosting areas.

However, the need continues to grow. During the first three months of 2026 alone, more than 22,000 newly arrived refugees and asylum-seekers were registered in Uganda, placing further pressure on already stretched humanitarian services. Your support is crucial in helping vulnerable refugee families gain reliable access to essential food supplies and meet their most basic needs.
